High Holy Day FAQs

Q. Where are the services being held?
A.
Services will be mostly online. We are taking precautions and doing what is best for our members to continue to stay healthy during this pandemic.

Q. Who will leading and assisting in services this year?
A.
Most of the services will be led by Rabbi Jennifer Weiner. Rabbi Jessy Dressin will be leading the Rosh Hashanah Contemporary Service as well as a Social Justice Service during Yom Kippur. Rabbi Berlin and Herman will participate in the Second Day Rosh Hashanah Service and will lead the Yizkor Service during Yom Kippur. In addition Cantor Gerber, Leslie Pomerantz, Melinda McGlothin, Paul Binko, Wally Ford, and cellist Todd Thiel will be  assisting in our services throughout the Holy Days.

Q. Can I come and sit in the back area of the sanctuary if I promise not to cough or sneeze during recording sessions?
A.
No, for your safety and ours only staff will be present during recording.

Q. You said recording, does that mean that services aren't live?
A.
In order to keep our staff, clergy and musicians safe we are recording many parts of the services in advance. 

Q. Can I tell my friends, grandparents and cousins they can watch services too? What does that cost?
A.
Yes, services are open to all. We ask that all of our non-member guests consider making a donation by visiting the donate section of our website and selecting “High Holy Days 2020.”

Q. How can I get a prayerbook?
A.
We will be having a prayerbook pick up on September 8 from 10 am–2 pm and again on September 9 from 5–7 pm. Please RSVP to help us prepare your prayerbooks and Goodie Bag in advance. This will also give you more time to wave 
and say hello to our staff and Clergy.

Q. Suppose I can’t come during those days? How else can I get my prayerbook?
A.
Please call the Temple Office 410-358-0105 and we will arrange a convenient time.

Q. Will there be a Food Drive as in years past?
A.
Yes, all during the month of September, beginning on September 8, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Kennedy Krieger Institute. You can drop your donations off in the vestibule of the Gordon Chapel. Please wear a mask.

Q. How will I know what service to watch or how to access it on my computer?
A.
Our website will list our schedule of our High Holy Days. It  will be updated regularly to reflect all events and details as they become available.

Q. What if I can’t access the service, is there tech support to help me?
A.
Yes, please call the Temple office 410-358-0105 and you will be connected with the right person.

Q. I donated for a listing in the Book of Remembrance. Can I get a copy?
A.
For those with computers, The Book of Remembrance will be posted on line. For those who do not have a computer or request a copy, we will mail you a copy.
